Constructing genetic linkage maps under a tetrasomic model.
An international consortium has launched the whole-genome sequencing of potato, the fourth most important food crop in the world. Construction of genetic linkage maps is an inevitable step for taking advantage of the genome projects for the development of novel cultivars in the autotetraploid crop species. However, linkage analysis in autopolyploids, the kernel of linkage map construction, is t...

Running Head: Linkage maps in autotetraploid species. Abstract: An international consortium has launched the whole genome sequencing of potato, the fourth most important crop in the world food resource. Construction of genetic linkage maps is an inevitable step for taking advantage of the genome projects for the development of novel cultivars in the autotetraploid crop species. However, linkage...
متن کاملMultilocus tetrasomic linkage analysis using hidden Markov chain model.
The availability of reliable genetic linkage maps is crucial for functional and evolutionary genomic analyses. Established theory and methods of genetic linkage analysis have made map construction a routine exercise in diploids. However, many evolutionarily, ecologically, and/or agronomically important species are autopolyploids, with autotetraploidy being a typical example. These species under...
متن کاملMethod for constructing confidently ordered linkage maps.
We describe a method for identifying, from a comprehensive genetic map, the most dense framework of confidently ordered markers. The approach uses the number of observed recombination events between each pair of markers, and finds the largest subset of markers for which adjacent loci are separated by at least one recombination. We illustrate the approach using a short region of chromosome 7p.
متن کاملA mathematical model of interference for use in constructing linkage maps from tetrad data.
In determining genetic map distances it is necessary to infer crossover frequencies from the ratios of recombinant and parental progeny. To do this accurately, in intervals where multiple crossovers may occur, a mathematical model of chiasma interference must be assumed when mapping in organisms displaying such interference. In Saccharomyces cerevisiae the model most frequently used is that of ...
